Paris Saint-Germain Edges Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now claimed the season-opening cup on 14 separate occasions.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a straightforward win in the showdown between the French league winners and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring in the opening stages.

However, Marseille struck two times in the closing moments to take a surprise advantage. First, the English forward converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable twist of fortune, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial leveler in the final moments to send the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving crucial attempts from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for PSG to seal a convincing shootout victory.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the past thirteen seasons.
